Handling Incoming Phone Calls



Answer calls this way: 

“Geek Girls IT Services; XXXXXX speaking”.  Or “Geek Girls IT Services; this is XXXX”



Placing people on hold

Always say “May I place you on hold briefly?” before holding. 



Calls for Roberta

(The following applies unless Roberta specifies she’s expecting a specific caller in which case you can put that caller through to Roberta as requested without asking these questions.)

Find out: 

  • Who
  • From where
  • About what

Transfer call to Roberta’s desk and verbally provide above info to Roberta. If Roberta does not pick up, take a message and do one of the following:

1. If call is important, Slack Roberta

2. If not important or time sensitive, email Roberta
