How to Move Resources from a PAYG (Pay as You Go) Direct Azure Subscription Over to Pax8
- Assess the PAYG
subscription to ensure that all services are transferable to a CSP
subscription. Here is a link to information on what resources can be
moved: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/move-support-resources.
Please note that any Azure Reserved Instances must be cancelled before the
subscription can be moved and we can reorder the reservations once the
move has been completed.
- Once you have confirmed
that all necessary resources can be moved, you will then need to log into
the Pax8 Portal and order the “Microsoft Azure Program” SKU for the
client. If the customer does not exist in the Pax8 Portal yet, you
will need to create an account for them first. After you have
finished the ordering process, you will receive an email containing admin
credentials to the new subscription within 24 hours.
- Log into the new Azure
subscription and create at least one new Resource Group.
- Log into the current
Azure subscription and begin moving resources to the new Azure
subscription. Here is a link to information on this process: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-resource-manager/management/move-resource-group-and-subscription/.
There should be no interruption to the environment as on the metadata is
being moved however Microsoft recommends that you schedule a maintenance
window just in case.
After these steps have been completed, you will begin to see
billing and usage data accumulate in the Pax8 Portal within 72 hours.
