Hard Drive Data Destruction Policy (Wiping or Physical Destruction)

Hard Drive Data Destruction Policy (Wiping or Physical Destruction)

We charge a $125 pickup fee to take up to five laptops or ten hard drives for data destruction (unless we are already onsite for some other purpose). There is also a $75 charge per hard drive to be sanitized. (Keep in mind that some computers, especially servers, may contain multiple drives.)

We do not remove towers or other desktop computers from the premises.

We will not remove equipment that doesn't need data destruction, such as switches or monitors. This is not intended to be a "junk removal" service. We only take devices that we are sanitizing.

For each drive that we can wipe, we’ll provide you (the customer) with a PDF certificate containing the drive’s serial number and verifying each erasure. In cases where a drive is damaged or otherwise unable to be wiped through normal software-based methods, we will perform secure physical destruction of the drive to ensure all data is irretrievable.

The Data Destruction Fee applies to both scenarios — successful wipe or physical destruction — as both methods provide secure data sanitization and require technician time, handling, and verification.

A certificate of the data wipe will be provided for successfully wiped drives, and a photo documenting physical destruction will be provided for drives that must be destroyed.

Notes
For internal. NOT for Customer: If we are going to be onsite at this customer's location anyway, the wipe fee still applies, although we may at our discretion waive or reduce the pickup fee.

This is because picking up equipment may involve other expenses such as parking fees, travel to bring the equipment to another tech, extra labor to haul equipment, etc.

Warning
When done we will bring all erased media to a recycling center. Devices are not returnable to customer unless specifically requested and customer agrees to pay for shipping and handling.

Please note we cannot wipe the drives onsite. The erasure software takes several hours to run and it has to be done offsite.
