Configuration Items in Autotask

Configuration Items in Autotask

CREATING A CONFIGURATION ITEM

Alert
This is only for hardware that is not covered by an RMM agreement. RMM config items are auto-synced from RMM. We should never manually create config items for them.

  1. Go to the Account.
  2. Click New. Under drop-down choose Configuration Item.
  3. Click Icon next to Product field and choose appropriate item. If the specific product doesn't exist, and it is a product that we are adding more than once or are likely to add again in the future, consider creating a product.
  4. Choose appropriate Type and Category. See details below in this article.
  5. Add the host name to the field called Reference Name. This is important! If there is no hostname, choose a UNIQUE name. Two devices in the same customer account should not have the same Reference Name.
  6. Fill in details provided by tech:

  1. For firewall: should have local static IP address and device function.
  2. For wireless access point, a WiFi flexible asset should be added or edited in IT Glue and the SSID and key included. Link this asset to the WAP configuration as a "related item" (after WAP syncs from AT).
  3. Add any admin passwords to IT Glue and link as a "related item" to the configuration (after it syncs from AT).

7. If details are missing, ask the tech for more info.
