Adding Products to AutoTask

When we install our RMM monitoring agent to a computer (a workstation or server) the item is automatically added to RMM. These items are then synced automatically from the RMM to Autotask as Configuration Items. (They also sync to IT Glue, where they are called Configurations.) 

Other items are added manually by us to Autotask because we do not monitor them via RMM. These items include UPS devices and network printers. The instructions in this article are for items that are added manually to Autotask.  

For items manually added to Autotask, always add a description. The more fields you can fill out the more info will get synced to IT glue. At minimum fill in description, Manufacturer, SKU (if known), product number (model) and serial number.

Not all items need to be added to Autotask. This section needs to be fleshed out more to clarify which items should be added.
